Oak Timber Framing: Roof Framing

15-19 October, 2018
Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, West Sussex

This week-long course focusses on methods of roof framing suitable for both new-build and repair. Students will fabricate both a gable and a hip roof, lining out, cutting and fitting the principal, common, hip and jack rafters of a traditional Sussex timber framed building. The layout methods will be based on using the frame as a jig and the scribing technique will be line-transfer.
