The Works of Decimus Burton (1800-1881)

Architect and historian Dr Philip Whitbourn will be lecturing on the works of Decimus Burton (1800-1881), who is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery. Burton notably designed the Athenaeum in Pall Mall, the Arch and Screen at Hyde Park Corner, the Palm Hothouse in Kew Gardens and buildings in St Leonards-on-Sea. He was one of the foremost 19th-century architects and a leading exponent of the Greek Revival, Regency and Classical styles of his time.
